I did manage to get a print of the lino showing my daughter sleeping with two of our cats on the bed.
I like the simplicity and the fact that sometimes the lino dictates the path of a cut which adds to the accidental shape of an image sometimes creating a more interesting line as it's not so controlled.
I need to now think about how I develop this further to give a richer image - it may be that I add further detail or images, adding scent to trigger an emotion is something that I find interesting as scent is supposed to have the closest connection to memory of all the senses, or I could add further colour or layer the image with other materials. I need to explore these options and then see which I'm happiest with and which fulfils my brief.
I also printed a lino cut of some tulip leaves as always try to have flowers on the table in the kitchen. In their central position they are a focal point and I wondered if I could develop this idea pulling together some of the elements into a central display that encompasses various elements of home for me.
The leaves are still part of the print sheet I made , which I have just placed the flower shaped images onto. These are photos of the paper mache shape I made which I'd covered with photos of friends and family within my home, so each of these 'flowers' are symbolic of the people that are important to me, sharing my space and making it a home.
I'm going to explore this idea further, how much do I want it to look like flowers ?, which are integral in my home as they brighten it, lifting your spirits and bringing the garden inside. Flowers and colour are all important pieces of my home. Do they exist on their own or within a vessel ?
it could do with being fuller..
cake cases on the leaf print - a bit shiny - they're the Christmas ones !
